I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and currently live in Tallahassee, FL with my husband (Ryan), two children (Isaac and Helen), and dog (Chloe). In my spare time, I enjoy biking, hiking, camping, and being outdoors in general; playing violin and piano, and learning to play guitar and mountain dulcimer; cooking, baking, and eating. When I manage to find a bigger spare chunk of time, I like to visit state highpoints and tour the country by bicycle (not necessarily at the same time). You can also find copies of our family newsletters below, with summaries of the big events of each year.
Highpointing
My husband and I plan to eventually visit all 50 state high points together and physically place a foot on the highest geographical point of each state (except we’ve replaced Alaska with DC, because we’re not that hardcore). The current count as of February 2018 is 23, including…

Random fact: The Wall Street Journal featured a picture of me at Florida’s highest point, where Ryan proposed in 2011, in the online edition of their March 2017 cover story about America’s lowest highpoints:
Bicycle Tours
Aside from bike commuting to work, riding around Tallahassee for fun, and participating in organized century rides, I also like to fit in some bigger trips when I find the time. So far I have been on two “big” (i.e., multi-week and self-supported) tours:
- 2010: Sierra Cascades Route, Lower Third (Mountain Man Wannabe Blog)
- 2007: TransAmerica Trail (Two Grads and a Dad Blog)
